Winter is firmly in the rearview mirror once more, which can only mean one thing: spring is here, and summer isn't far behind! You may be looking forward to booking a break to feel the sun on your back once again, but the warmer months aren't just good for a holiday - they're also the perfect opportunity for a home revamp.

So to give you an idea of the kind of additions you can make to your home, here are 8 of our favourite spring décor ideas.

Bring your walls to life

The easiest way to inject a taste of the warmer months into your home is to start with the walls. Summery canvas paintings and wall art can add warmth and offer a feel-good factor to any room or space. Why not go for a beach scene or even some colourful flowers to add to your living room?

Revamp old furniture

Many of us are guilty of hanging on to an old wooden table or chair for a little too long - but that doesn't mean you should throw them out! Instead, why not give them a new lease of life by sanding them down and trying a fresh coat of paint? Pastel colours can work well in almost any room. Or, maybe you've found some cheap furniture online that you want to bring to life with some new colours? We might know someone who can help get it delivered!

Bursts of colour

Darker colours such as grey and brown are perfect for winter and autumn, but spring and summer call for lighter, airier colours. If you find that your rooms are full of darker colours, don't worry - we're not saying you need an overhaul. Instead, use bright throws, blankets and patterned pillows to invite those warmer vibes.

Stripes

We're all counting down the days until we're in our back gardens soaking up some precious vitamin D from the sun. So, why not add some little flourishes to your garden in the form of stripes? Some patterns shout spring, others suggest summer, and striped throws can work for any occasion, going a long way to sprucing up your existing garden furniture and bringing a little bit of colour to your backyard.

Garden

Following on where step four left off, your garden is a staple for warmer weather - there are no two ways about it. Some of us spent the lockdowns building outbuildings, garden pubs or even adding hot tubs to our gardens - and weather permitting - these should prove worthwhile this year. But, if you're not wanting to go that far just yet, why not try adding a hammock, astroturf or even get creative with pallets? To read more of our tips on summer garden décor, click here.

Flowers

If you have places where plants and flowers can grow, some may pop up naturally around this time of the year, but why stop there? Head down to your local garden centre to get more flowers and watch how these sprouting saplings can burst into life and make your garden feel, smell and look like spring has sprung. Equally, they can bring wildlife such as bees into your garden - which is essential for several reasons!

Bring the outdoors in

Who doesn't love a well-placed flower? Stick a couple of them in a glass vase on the table, and voila, you have the perfect summer centrepiece. It doesn't just have to be warm and colourful outside the house - flowers can go throughout the house to add little splashes of colour into rooms or hallways. Or why not try other elements, such as seashells, bamboo or a well-stocked fruit bowl? Healthy and effective.

Outdoor seating

The importance of garden seats simply cannot be stressed enough. Are you having a summer get together? That bench is getting used. Family BBQ to celebrate Easter? I guarantee you've run out of spare seats. Do you want to read a book in the sun? You see where I'm going with this. You don't even have to be that DIY savvy to build a bench of your own. But, if you are a pro, why not consider a wraparound bench around one of your existing trees? Or let us deliver your latest purchase from eBay?

As summer approaches, we hope we can have inspired your renovations. If you decide to bring a couple of these ideas into your home, we'd love to see them! Feel free to tag us on Instagram (@WeAreAnyVan) or Twitter (@AnyVan).
