Motorists’ whipround for Wales Air Ambulance on M4
The man and van team were touched to read this lovely story on the BBC News website about a charitable group of motorists who donated £50 to the Wales Air Ambulance after it landed on the M4 to treat a casualty.
The crew was called after a man was hurt in a traffic accident near Margam, Port Talbot on the July 20. After the man had been treated and the crew prepared for take off a man presented them with £50 raised from the pockets of waiting motorists.
Paramedic Chris Connor said: “We were only on the scene for a short amount of time – probably under 10 minutes and in that time the motorists on the M4 managed to group together to raise £50 for the Wales Air Ambulance. I’d like to thank the man who collected donations and everyone who donated. It’s thank to public support and donations that we are able to provide a lifesaving air ambulance service to the people of Wales.”
We’re very impressed with this gesture, as we’re sure all couriers and transport companies will be, as knowing that the Air Ambulance teams can respond so quickly to road traffic accidents is a comfort to all regular road users. Nice one, M4 motorists!
